About University of California at Berkeley Scandinavian Studies Professor Jonas Wellendorf

Professor Wellendorf earned his Ph.D. from the University of Bergen in Old Norse Philology. Research interests are in Old Norse-Icelandic literature, textual culture and language, as well as Viking and Medieval Scandinavia, medieval understandings of the past, medieval views on language, Old Norse-Icelandic learned literature (including grammatical, theological and mythological literature and literature on poetics), medieval translations, medieval modes of interpretation, and the Latin/vernacular interface in the North.
